Standing Stones by Caelkriss Standing Stones by Caelkriss
I guess it's been a while since my last upload, so I figured I'd put up something new. Careful, don't touch it. The paint is still wet.

Started this one a long time ago, actually. Never quite had the guts to jump into it until now. I just wanted to make it as good as possible. You can actually see a very preliminary version of it that I uploaded a while back, which will be making its way to my scraps. You'll be able to see details pretty soon too. Enjoy!

Here's some info:
Original size: 33in x 14in (9900px x 4200px)
File Size: 221mb (flattened, uncompressed)
Medium/Programs: Blue mechanical pencil sketch; Photoshop CS2; Painter 8; Wacom Intuos 2

Edit: Upon request, here's an updated upload. The HUGE version.

I really like your brightly glowing standing stones (mysterious portals?).

There are so many things to like about this work, such as the folds of the wizard's garb, and those sleaves are humongous. Don't think i'd like to play a game of cards with him.

Also, from the thumbnail above you are, for want of a better word, drawn in with your rounded horizon. You don see it much in the larger image.

As well as the grass being so believable, the clouds and sky so well done. There's too much to like about it.

Err, i guess the only thing that looks a bit comical, or rather out of place is that pink or magenta glowing standing stone. It just glows from cracks lower down making it seem a bit more different from the orange and aqua or blue stones. Perhaps it's also the shape that makes it look more unusual from the other two.

Anyway, the whole thing is quite excellent, and i'll be adding in soon to me favourites.

Wow! That is SPECTACULAR.

If you would make this into a widescreen wallpaper, I would be forever in your debt.

That's just freaking intimidating. It must have taken forever - each blade of grass, the strands of hair, the shading on the cloak, the edges of the clouds. I really like the atmosphere of this, and all the careful details.

Wow, Tim. WOW. That sky. I am speechless.

Photoshop brushes rock.

Why the huge dimensions? Is this going to be print/sellable? Because it's definitely quality enough.

If I tried to work on something 221mb, my hard drive would commit suicide. :D

Great concept too. Very atmospheric and mysterious, and the glowing stones appeal to the fantasy geek factor without being over-the-top. Bravo!

Thanks, Dawn!

Photoshop rocks my socks.

I guess I've got this obsession with really BIG paintings. I tried upresing it to 3x it's original size (about 9ft wide), and it worked out really well. So, conceivably, I could print this one out billboard size without suffering a huge blow to detail. I just find that really cool. :excited: I'll eventually want it printed out, but I don't know of a place that can do a really good job yet. Kinko's kwality doesn't kut it.

Thanks again! Seeya around. :glomp:

Hehe, yeah. John takes the cake for inspiration. However, the druid has changed a bit after I decided not to make him look too much like my hero.

I painted the grass one blade at a time. Just kidding. I made a brush in Photoshop that allowed me to paint it pretty quickly.
